Zuri and the Three Cheetah Cubs
A story about listening to elders and staying safe together.
🌞 Day-Time Story
In the African jungle, near a quiet river, lived a cheetah mother named Zuri.
She had three cute cubs:
Vela, Coco, and Bambi.
They were small, playful, and always stayed together.
Their home was close to the river, where they drank fresh water every day.
Nearby lived their friend, a tall giraffe everyone called Uncle Taller — because he was very, very tall.
Uncle Taller loved eating green leaves from tall trees.
And because he was tall, he could see very far.
🐾 Growing Up
The cubs were still young.
They drank lots of mother’s milk.
But now, it was time to start eating meat protein,
so they could grow stronger and run faster —
faster than any animal in the jungle.
🐆 Mama Goes Out
One afternoon, Mama Zuri went out to bring food for her cubs.
The cubs stayed near their home, playing on the rocks.
Uncle Taller was nearby, watching them carefully.
Suddenly…
They heard a strange sound.
🔊 Strange Sounds
From far away came a sound:
“Heh-heh-heh-heh!”
“Kek-kek-kek!”
It was sharp and broken.
Vela, Coco, and Bambi froze.
They had never heard this sound before.
Then… another sound echoed:
“RROOOAAARRRHHH…”
Deep. Heavy. Vibrating.
Now the cubs felt very scared.
🦒 Uncle Taller Helps
Uncle Taller saw everything.
He gently moved his head and gave them a signal:
👉 Go home. Hide. Stay quiet.
The cubs understood.
They stopped playing and quickly hid near the bushes —
the same safe place Mama had taught them before.
“Don’t come out until Mama comes back,”
Uncle Taller seemed to say.
The cubs whispered together,
“Okay… okay…”
🐾 Danger Passes
A group of hyenas came searching.
They looked around.
But they found nothing.
Later, a big lion walked by.
He looked… and looked…
But the cubs stayed hidden.
The lion moved away and went to sleep.
The jungle became quiet again.
🐆 Mama Comes Home
After some time, Mama Zuri returned.
She called softly:
“Chirp… chirp… chirrrp!”
Her voice was sharp, loving, and safe.
The cubs heard her.
They came out of the bushes and ran to her.
🍖 Time to Eat
Mama Zuri brought fresh meat.
The cubs ate well.
They ate strong food.
Protein food.
Their bodies felt stronger.
Their legs felt faster.
They were not scared anymore.
🤝 Thank You, Uncle Taller
Mama Zuri looked at Uncle Taller and said,
“Thank you for watching my kids.”
Uncle Taller smiled.
“You’re welcome,” he said.
“Your cubs are smart.”
The cubs stayed close to Mama, feeling safe and happy.
🧠 Ending Thought
Staying together keeps you safe.
Listening helps you grow strong.
And good food gives you power.
🐾 Did You Know?
Hiding is a Superpower:
Cheetah cubs have a fuzzy "mantle" of hair on their backs that helps them hide in the grass!
Chirp like a Bird?
Cheetahs don't roar like lions. They chirp like birds to talk to their babies!
Speed Machines:
Eating meat helps cheetahs run very fast — faster than any other land animal on Earth!
